I. Lowe, one of Clay County's best known citizens, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Allen Hamlin, in Lineville last Tuesday, following a long illness. Mr. Lowe had spent all of his life in Clay County, coming to Ashland from Gibsonville more than 20 years ago. For the past year he had made his home in Lineville. His occupation was farming. He was one of the Sacred Harp leaders and never missed one of the singings in this part of the state. The deceased was 79 years of age and is survived by one son, Irby Lowe, of Gibsonville, and two daughters, Mrs. Allen Hamlin of Lineville, and Mrs. M. A. Vickers of Abbott's Ford, Ga. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at County Line Baptist church, conducted by Rev. Cecil Ray, assisted by Rev. W. H. Cook of the Lineville Baptist church, and W. B. Nolen of Ashland. Interment was in the County Line cemetery, Blair in charge.
