Ashland Progress
In the death of Mr. John Lucius, which occurred at his home near Bluff Spring 
Tuesday night, Clay County loses another of her oldest and best citizens. He 
might well be termed one of the county's land marks having reached the ripe age 
of 90 years and lived at the same place for more than a half a century. Mr. 
Lucius had been quite feeble for some time and only a day or two before his death 
fell in his room and fractured his leg. This hastened the end of his long 
pilgrimage, which came at 6 o'clock Tuesday night. He was a member of the masonic 
fraternity, a splendid citizen and had a large circle of. friends. The funeral 
services were conducted by Rev W A Sutton and the remains were interred at the 
Wicker Cemetery near the home of the deceased. Two daughters survive him.
