Clay County Advance
Sister EMILY MARGARET LUCIUS, daughter of George N. and Rachel E. Sims, was born 
in Abbeville District, South Carolina, December 15, 1826; was married to John 
Lucius June 15, 1842. They moved from South Carolina to Alabama in 1843, 
settling in East Alabama, where She lived until her removal to her home above. 
She was converted and joined the M. E. Church, South, in the year 1850, and with 
her it was no halfhearted service she gave to God. She loved the Church, and 
when in health was regular in she attendance upon the services of God's house, 
making a proper use of al the public means of grace, finding in them rich soul 
food; hence, she grew stronger and stronger in the Lord. She read and studied 
the word of God, making it the man of her counsel. The word of God dwelt in her 
heart richly in all wisdom.  She was a woman of much prayer. It was not only a 
pleasure with her to have the preachers visit her, but she was delighted when 
she had an opportunity to care for them at her home. Hers was in the true sense 
the preacher's home. Her husband found in her a true helpmate, and now with head 
bowed and heart full of grief, he looks forward to a reunion in the bright 
beyond. Her two daughters are sorrowing, but not without hope of meeting again. 
A good woman is gone to her great reward, and will be missed not only at home, 
but by the Church at Mt. Moriah and the entire neighborhood. She died in great 
peace at her home in Clay County, Ala., May 5, 1891. O. L. Dobbs.

AL.
