Five shots were fired by Knight, four taking effect in the body of Mackey killing him almost instantly. Knight was stabbed to the hollow; Mackey breaking the blade of his knife in Knight's body. Although dangerously wounded it is thought that Knight will recover. Mackey was about 21 years of age and Knight is about. 20. The young man who lost his life in this difficulty was a son of Mr. G. W. Mackey, and J. C. Knight is a son of Jesse Knight. The difficulty occurred at the depot, and it is said that both the young men were drinking.
