Ashland Progress
Mr. Walter Mackey, age 76, of Lineville Rt. 2, passed away at the home of his 
daughter, Mrs. Clarence Sparks on March 10th. Funeral rites were held March 
11th, at the Shiloh Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Grady Birchfield, H. 
T. Tapley and R. E. Birchfield. Burial was in the Shiloh cemetery with Blair 
directing. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Dorthula Blair Mackey; one 
daughter, Mrs. Clarence Sparks; one sister, Mrs. Rosa Price. Pallbearers were 
nephews, Gorden Price, Ulman Mitchell, T. J. Mackey, John Jay Mackey, George 
Mackey and Hugo Mackey. Honorary pallbearers were Claxton Denney, Bernice 
Woodruff, Fred Kay, Calvin Vickers, N.H. Carwile, Beamon Denney, Garland Denney, 
Theron Sparks, Reuben Vickers, Jessie Stanford, Robert Hurst, Lynwood Golden, 
Edward Sparks, Aaron Griffin, Crayton Vickers, Chink Mitchell, Grady Stanford, 
Artford Anderson, Everette Short, J. C. Harris, Adrain Hanners, Melvin Raily, 
Grady Prestridge, Barney Latham, O. J. Macoy, Joe Tinney, Clayton Stanford and 
A. Burdette.
