Ashland Progress
Funeral services for Robert L. Mann, 70, well known retired Clay County farmer, 
were held it 10:30 Thursday morning at County Line Baptist Church, with Rev. O. 
C. Nichols officiating. Burial was in the adjacent cemetery, Blair in charge. 
Pallbearers were six nephews, Lowell, Comer, Brenton, Paul, Jack and Cornell 
Mann. Mr. Mann born and reared in the Mellow Valley community, had lived in Clay 
County his entire life, moving to Ashland two years ago. He died in Clay County 
Hospital Tuesday night after a short illness. Survivors, besides his wife, the 
former Carrie Barber, include two daughters, Mrs. Doris Sprayberry, and Mrs. 
Louise Wade, both of Columbus, two brothers, James T. Mann, Ashland, and W. A. 
Mann, Roberta, Ga., one sister, Mrs. J. M. Reagan, Montezuma, Ga. Several 
nieces, nephews, grandchildren and other relatives also survive.
