Ashland Progress
Funeral services for Mrs. James Martin, 43, of Henagar Rt. 2, were held January 
12 at Macedonia Church. Mrs. Martin, the former Miss Willie Mae Mitchell, died 
Sunday in a Chattanooga, hospital after a long illness. A native of Clay County, 
Mrs. Martin had lived here about four years. Surviving Mrs. Martin, in addition 
to her husband, are five daughters, Mrs. Katherine Graben of Pisgah, Miss Effie 
Ray Martin of Akron, Ohio, Ruby, Linda and Elaine Martin, all of Henagar; a son, 
J. W. Martin, with the U. S. Navy at New Orleans, her father and stepmother, Mr. 
and Mrs. O. K. Mitchell of Anniston; a sister, Mrs. Nealy Simms of Delta; a half-
sister, Mrs. Mary Ruth Bishop of Anniston; a brother, K. V. Mitchell, of 
Anniston, and two grandchildren.
