Ashland Progress
T. D. Mask, a well-known citizen of the southern part of the county, died last 
Thursday morning at the age of 42 years. His death was quite a shock to his 
family and neighbors because of its unusual sudden ness. He had influenza or some 
similar trouble a short time prior to his death but had improved and gone about 
his usual work and the day before his death is said to have worked in a new 
ground and retired at night without, being aware of anything serious" in his 
condition. In the early morning his wife was alarmed at hearing him struggle. 
and, before aid could be summoned, he was dead. His remains were interred in the 
Mt. Carmel burying ground near his home.
