Dr. Carl Glers and Rev. Dee Hurst will officiate Johns-Ridout's 2116 8th Ave directing. James Thomas Massey age 41 at 4041 Cliff Rd pasted away Thursday pm at the residence. Surviving are 1 son James Thomas Massey Jr of B'ham, parents Mr. and Mrs. James Massey of Arkland Fla., 5 sisters Mrs. Emily M. Hite of B'ham, Mrs. Rasa Boockholdt at Jacksonville Fla., Mrs. Corel Keene of B'ham, Mrs. Marilyn Murdock of Pasadena Tx., and Mrs. Floy Johnston at Lakeland Fla., 3 brothers Charles Massey of Cullman, Rev Edward Massey of Fultondale, Daniel Massey of Lakeland Fla. Funeral services will be Sun at 9:30 am at Johns-Ridout's Southside Chapel at 2:30 pm from Brown Service Funeral Home Lineville Ala, with burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Additional Comments: Birmingham Post-Herald Aug 8, 1969: Investigators identified the victims as James Thomas Massey 41 an employe of Connors Steel and his wife Mrs. Peggy Massey 32. Mrs. Elva Lee Massey 38 732 71st-pl who had been divorced from Massey about three months was arrested and charged according to Birmingham Police Lt Jack LeGrand Detective Albert Wallace and Jefferson County Coroner Butler. The shootings occurred at 4041 Cliff-Rd. Both women were beauty shop operators Mrs. Peggy Massey at Crestwood Beauty Sabin and Mrs. Elva Lee Massey at Eastwood Mall Beauty Salon the officers said.
