Ashland Progress
On Wednesday while digging a well deeper at the home of Jesse L. Green, two miles 
south of Mellow Valley, Ezo T. Mathis, age 37 years, died as a result of gas 
which had accumulated since the day before, following a blast by dynamite. 
Efforts to revive the stricken man were in vain.

We wish to express our sincere thanks and deep appreciation for the many acts of 
kindness by our friends and neighbors during the recent death of our nephew, Ezo 
Mathis. We pray God's richest blessings on each and everyone. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse 
L. Green

He was buried at County Line Cemetery, Clay County, AL. 
He was the son of Dock Mathis & Rozanna Green. He married Lyddie Caldwell.
