Ross Mathis was born March 27th, 1890. Died January 14th, 1921. He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Mathis. Ross was sick one week. He realized from the first that he only had a few more days here. As he suffered untold agony which he bore with patience, he was cheerful to the last and left evidence that everything was well with him. He said to his loved ones that his only regret was in leaving them. He first married Miss Izora Kilgore December 7th, 1913, which union lasted nearly a year, when she passed over the river. He was again married to Miss Nora Mask in April 1919. He leaves a wife and young babe, father, mother, three sisters, one brother and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. Ross can't come to us, but we can go to him. While there is no one to take his place, home is broken up never to be as it was. But let our lives be such that someday we can meet him in the sweet by and by where there will not be any suffering, grief or sorrow. His remains were laid to rest in Mt. Gillead cemetery on Sunday, January l6th, 1921. Rev. T.J. Burgess conducting the funeral service. W. H. M.
