Clay County Advance
Mr. Hugh Mattox was born near Chulafina, Ala. March 21st. 1850, and died at his 
home near Gibsonville, Ala. Sept 30, 1892, leaving a wife and nine children to 
mourn their great loss. Mr. Mattox had made a profession of religion, and 
frequently spoke of his readiness to meet death, and when the end came almost or 
quite the last word was all is right. He was an industrious, economical honest 
man, and left a competoncy for his family. His family the community in which he 
lived, and the whole country have sustained a great loss in his death.
