Mattox, Son of Hugh A. and M. E. Mattox died July 4th. 1900. On the Morning of July 4th, 1900, after many months of suffering the Angel of Death, visited the home of Mrs. M. E. Mattox; and claimed, as victim her 17-year-old son. On his death bed he claimed that the Savior was with him. The thread of life has broken, and God has claimed his own has called our dearest Obie, To his eternal throne. We watched him through his Sickness arid cheered his aching breast. Until his weary Spirit, did take it flight for rest. And now he is with the Angels, his feet their roads do trod. And playing on his golden harp, around the throne of God. When the silver cord is broken, when our earthly home shall fall. When the last farewell is spoken, save us, Jesus, save us all. From a friend.
