Ashland Progress
W. M. McCaffrey, age 69, one of Talladega's well known and highly respected 
citizen died at his home Tuesday morning at 3 o'clock. Mr. McCaffrey had been in 
declining health for some time and had recently become seriously ill. His death 
regretted by a large circle of friends. Mr. McCaffrey was a member of the 
Methodist church and a valiant Confederate veteran. He is survived by his wife 
and several children. The funeral services and interment will take place at 
Bethlehem church near Chandler Springs Wednesday afternoon, Talladega Home. Mr. 
McCaffrey was a former citizen of Clay County and had many friends here to whom 
the above will be sad news. He was the father of our W.J. McCaffrey townsman.
