  Death of Rev. J. E. McCain

On the morning of the 12th of August,
Rev. J. E. McCain died at his home at 
Lineville, Ala. The deceased was one of
the best known ministers of this section 
of the country, and had done great work
for the Master. He was a prominent figure
in the conference when met here a few 
years ago and a sermon which he preached
at the Mt. Canaan colored Baptist church
on Sunday morning of the conference week
is remembered by many of our people.
  He was a great preacher and a good man,
and his works will long remain after him.
