Stanley O McConnell 74 of Valley died Tuesday at East Alabama Medical Center 
Opelika The graveside funeral will be 11 am EST today at New Hope West Cemetery 
Cragford Ala according to Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Valley. Mr. 
McConnell was born July 19, 1921, in Randolph County Ala son of James and Emily 
Jane Moncus McConnell. A resident of Valley for the past 35 years he was a former 
employee of WestPoint Pepperell’s Fairfax Mill and a US Army veteran of World War 
II He was former post commander of the Opelika American Legion and a member of 
the Veterans of Foreign Wars Survivors include two sons Stanley R McConnell and 
Calvin McConnell both of Valley five grandchildren and a greatgrandchild. Flowers 
will be accepted or donations may go to a favorite charity.
