A 61-year-old Clay County man is dead, and his 34-year-old son was expected to 
be charged with murder following a shooting Sunday that led to a six-hour 
manhunt. Dead from a shotgun blast in the chest and abdomen is Lee Vinson 
McCormick of Delta, Rt. 1, who was shot as he stood in the backyard of his home. 
Confined in Clay County Jail at Ashland was Harold Daniel McCormick, who will be 
formally charged with murder today in connection with the shooting, according to 
State Investigator Roy Riddle of Anniston. Riddle said the son's capture came at 
8 p.m. and followed the 2 p.m. shooting that erupted during a family argument. 
The elder McCormick died at approximately 2:30 p.m., almost five minutes after 
arriving at Clay County Hospital. The investigator said his investigation 
revealed the son stood in the kitchen doorway of his father's house and, using 
the elder McCormick s 20-gauge shotgun, fired the blast through the screen 
door.....
