Our Mountain Home 
W. P. (Billie) McGehee died at his home near Coleta, in Clay County, after an 
illness of several months. Mr. McGehee was well known in Talladega and was a 
frequent visitor here. He was a good citizen, devoted to the development of his 
county, and had done much to stimulate fruit raising and truck farming. In the 
Civil War Mr. McGehee was quite a noted character among his comrades, being a 
member of the famous Washington Artillery, of which Messrs J. B. McMillan, J. B. 
Woodward and Thomas Wilson, of this place, were members.
