Ashland Progress
On last Thursday evening at two o'clock the Death Angel visited the home of Mrs. 
J.A. McKay and claimed her as its victim. However, she was ready to answer the 
summons of death by the preparation she had made in her early life. She was a 
devoted Christian, a charitable neighbor and a kind and loving mother. She had 
been ill for a long while and everything possible was done to alleviate her 
suffering. She leaves the following children to mourn her death: T.A. McKay, of 
Chandler Springs, J.L. McKay of Alexander City, C.W. McKay of Ashland, and Jennie 
McKay of this place, Mrs. Alice Jacobs and Mrs. Leora Robins of Goodwater and 
Mrs. Mary Belle Johnson of Brownville. She was buried in the Brownville cemetery.
