Ashland Progress
John T. McMath, better known as "Uncle Johnnie," died at his home near 
McDaniel's Chapel last Friday night at the age of 85 years. Funeral services 
were held Saturday afternoon at the church, conducted by Rev. F. J. Ingram, 
assisted by Rev. S. C. Ray, W. B. Nolen and Rev. H. T. Tapley. Burial was in the 
church cemetery, Blair directing.
The deceased is survived by his wife, eight daughters Mrs. W. S. W. Walker, Mrs. 
John Padgett of Cragford; Mrs. C. C. Twilley and Mrs. T.C. Walker of Malone, 
Mrs. Billie Brooks and Mrs. Tom Kirk, of Ashland, Mrs. G. T. Richardson, Cotton 
Valley, and Mrs. J. H. Dawkins, Cragford, R. and one son, T. O. McMath, of 
Cragford. Pallbearers were J.H. Dawkins, Herbert Dawkins, Arthur O. Dawkins, 
Fred Walker, W. W. Twilley and Borden Kellum.
