Military honors will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 tonight at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville, and until 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Mr. McVay died Sunday in Jackson's Gap. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Wilcox and her husband Thomas, of Talladega, Betty Patterson and her husband Robert, of Jackson's Gap; three sons, John D. McVay and his wife LaMerle, of Jasper, Dwight McVay and his wife Janice, of Lineville, and Roger Dale McVay of Lineville; 13 grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren and three great-greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers will be Robbie Patterson, Mike Hale, Greg Jones, Paul Jones, Mike Spurlin Jr., Jeremy Patterson and Jonathan Jones. Mr. McVay was a native of Clay County. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was retired from the Alabama State Department of Parks and Recreation after 28 years. Mr. McVay was a member of Bellview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Helon Huddleston McVay, three daughters and a son.
