McVey is said to have been struck in live places with pistol balls. Reports concerning the trouble are that the two men were not on good terms and that on the day of the shooting McVey and his son-in-law were driving a cow by Dunaway's house. He objected to her being driven through his yard and the shooting followed. A short time after shooting McVey, Dunaway is said to have also fired a shot at a negro nearby, inflicting dangerous wound. Dunaway was captured near Delta Saturday, night and indeed in jail. McVey leaves a family, while Dunaway is not married and resided with his mother. The affair occurred some eight or nine miles east of Ashland. Additional Comments: April 2, 1922, Lineville Headlight: Last Friday the jury brought in a verdict of guilty and gave Tom Dunaway 18 years for the murder of John Henry McVey. This murder was committed last November and grew out of a quarrel over driving of McVey's cows through Dunaway's back yard.
