Ashland Progress
Mrs. R. S. McWilliams passed away at the age of eighty-one at Citizens Hospital, 
Talladega, Friday, April 11th, having suffered a stroke on April 7th. She was 
born and reared in Georgia but had lived almost half century in Clay and 
Talladega counties. The rites were held at Clairmont Springs Church Sunday p. m. 
at 3 o'clock. Her pastor, B. W. Inzer and Rev. Marlow, of Talladega First 
Church, officiated. Burial was in adjoining cemetery, Usrey directing. The 
Miller Quartet furnished the music. The overflow crowd and beautiful flowers 
attested the esteem and love of friends and relatives many of them from Georgia 
and other distant spots. Grandsons: Vance, Mack and Frank Danner, Billy Horne, 
James and Troy McWilliams were active pallbearers. Ernest Miller, W. L. Foster, 
Frank Wesley, V. Willis, Victor Phillips, Dr. Davis, of Talladega, and W. A., E. 
S., and Lonnie Horne, E. C. Harris, M. F. Hobbs, and W. A. Powers, of Clairmont, 
were honorary pallbearers. Flower girls were granddaughters, Jane Doss, Hilda 
Samuella and Louevelyn Horne, Hope Parks, Carolyn and Emma Lou Wyatt, Lillian 
Bowman, Gene Williams, Delores and Bonnie McWilliams, Mary Etta Holt, Joyce 
Miller, Sara Danner, also Ann and Junita Hobbs and Christine Fields. She is 
survived by six children, R. C. McWilliams, Talladega, Mrs. C. O. Danner, Erin, 
Mrs. Henry H. Horne, Clairmont, Mrs. E. D. Short, Florence, S. C., Mrs. J. T. 
Hendrix, Reidsville, N. C., Mrs. Nelia Miller, Talladega. Twenty-nine 
grandchildren and ton greatgrandchildren.
