Ashland Progress
Mrs. Margaret Mellon, widow of the late R. W. Mellon, died at the home of her 
son, J. R. Mellon, in the Olive Branch community, about four miles east of 
Ashland, Sunday morning at 9:00 o'clock. Mrs. Mellon was 77 years of age and 
leaves two sons, J. E. Mellon, with whom she had made her home since the death of 
her husband, and A. J. Mellon of Louisiana. Funeral, services were conducted 
Monday afternoon at Olive Branch Baptist church by Revs. F. J. and S. J. Ingram, 
after which interment was made in the Olive Branch cemetery, Blair directing. The 
pallbearers were J. E. Moon, Joe Burroughs, Hindman Sparks, Charley Proctor, 
Grady Horn and Dallas Carpenter.
