Anniston Star
Services for Elmer Earl Messer 70. of Birmingham will be Friday at 1 p.m. at 
Bethel Baptist Church in Clay County. Mr. Messer died Wednesday in a Birmingham 
hospital after a long illness. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie Messer of 
Birmingham; a daughter, Mrs. Jean Smith of Birmingham; two sisters, Mrs. Annie 
Ray Miller of Delta and Mrs. Aggie Mae Johnson of Clanton; six brothers, J.C. 
Messer of Lineville, O.B. Messer of Douglas, Ga., A G. Messer of Birmingham, D.C. 
Messer of Anniston, Herman Messer of Ashville, N.C., and Erdeal Messer of 
Brunswick, Ga.; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will 
be nephews.
