J. Miller, one- mile north of Ashland, was drowned last Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. After, a rainstorm the family was returning to their home from a storm pit when little Marilyn and her nurse accidentally fell in a deep ditch of swift water. The nurse managed to save herself, but the child was overcome by the water and was drowned. Searching parties found the body at six o'clock, about one mile from the home. Marilyn is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Miller, three sisters, Mamie Ruth, Margaret, and Martha Ann, and two brothers, Thomas and Horace, and one half-brother, Lawson Kapps. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G. F. Ponder. Interment was in the new cemetery, Nolen Bros, directing.
