Ashland Progress
Mr. Joseph Stenson Miller 88, passed away at Citizens Hospital June 11th after a 
long period of declining health. Burial was at Sardis, near Clairmont Springs on 
June 13th at 10 a.m. Usrey Funeral Home directing. Brother Allan Jacobs, head of 
the Presbyterian Childrens Home, Talladega, officiated. He is survived by one 
daughter, Mrs. Donald Pruet, Mr. Pruet, a grandson, Donald Jr., Talladega, a 
daughter-in-law, Mrs. Nelia M. Miller and granddaughter, Mrs. Robert West and 
great granddaughter Kellet West of Bham. Mr. Miller made his home with his 
daughter. He was married many years ago to Miss Joyce Wesley, daughter of the 
late Mr. and Mrs. Wyley Wesley who preceded him in death several years ago. Mrs. 
Ida Simms and son of Abanda; Mrs. J. B. Ramsey and daughter of Bham; Mr. and 
Mrs. French Wright and Miss Pearl Wesley of Anniston, sisters-in-law, attended 
his funeral. Also Miss Bernice Jenkins, niece, Ashland; Mrs. Luther Miller, the 
Donald Pruets, Mrs. Demetres Miller and daughter, Florence; and Alfred Miller of 
Talladega; Mrs. Nelia Miller and daughter, Joyce of Bham and other relatives and 
friends were in attendance.
