Miller was born in Clay County, September 15, 1859, and lived here continuously, with exception of ten years spent in Ca. He was married to Johnnie A. Worthy of Randolph County and to that union was born eight children, five boys and three girls, two of which preceded him in death. The children are Mrs. W. O. Dawkins of Cragford, Mrs. M.H. Wood of Alexander City, O. B. Miller of Cragford, G. Miller of Malone, R.O. Miller of Dooling, and H. L. Miller of Sylacauga. are 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He first joined the Baptist Church at County Line, afterward moving his membership to the newly organized church at Mellow Valley, which he helped organize and erect. Since then, he has been deeply interested in all church activities and nil other civic that made for progress in the County he loved. He departed this life May 15, 1947, at the age of 88. A better Dad no bunch of children ever had, and our minds are at ease when we look back across the long span of years at a life of usefulness, unselfishly rendered. We wish to express our heart-felt thanks and appreciation to the' many friends who were so loyal to us during his illness and death, and for the many beautiful expressions of sympathy that carried us through the dark hours and gives us hope for the future. Services were held at Mellow Valley Baptist Church, directed by the pastor, H. G. Birchfield and assisted by Rev. O. C. Nichols of Cragford, Rev. J. L. Ingram of Ashland, and his former T. J. Preston Columbus, and Judge W. B. Nolen. Pallbearers were grandchildren and husbands of grandchildren, Herman Ritter, Columbus, Ga. Buster Wood, South Carolina; Kermit Miller, Montezuma, Theron Bailey, Columbus, J.P. Osborne, Alexander City, and Duel Thompson, Auburn. Interment was in McDaniel cemetery.
