F. & A. M. Bro. W. T Mitchell, who was born on the 19th day of February 1828, and died on the 7th day of June 1909, making him 81 years, 3 months and 19. days old. Bro. Mitchell was born in Henry County, Ga. He was married to Miss Nancy Turner in 1849 and moved to Randolph County in 1853 and joined the M. E. church in 1859. He served in the confederate army during the war of 1861 to 1865. He was initiated into the mysteries of Masonry in 1867 at Lineville, Ala. He was a charter member of Hardy-Howle Lodge No. 459 and was elected Tiler at its first meeting and served for 18 years in that place, He labored faithfully and unceasingly for the upbuilding of our noble order. And whereas he lived a life of rectitude, squaring his actions with all mankind by the square of virtue, ever keeping in mind that Divine ark which safely wafts us over the tempestuous sea of trouble, and that anchor which safely moors us in a peaceful harbor where we cease from trouble and the weary shall find rest. And whereas Bro. Mitchell was a loyal, upright and highly respected, citizen, a devoted husband and father, a peaceable, quiet and friendly neighbor, He had eleven children born to him, two of whom have gone to the unknown country where we will never say good by. He leaves a wife and nine children to mourn their loss (six girls and three boys), but We hope their loss is heaven's eternal gain. In his suffering his faith never faltered, but with words of victory and shouts of praise he went to the throne of God, his great reward. Bro. Mitchell's attendance as Tiler could hardly be excelled, being absent but twice in 18 years. Therefore, his love and zeal for the order stood out so prominent that cowans never even, made their appearance. Therefore, be it resolved, 1st. That we, his s brethren, bow in humble submission to the Divine will of our Supreme Grand Master, who has called him from labor here below " to refreshment in that celestial Lodge above. 2nd. That the state has lost a respected citizen, the Lodge a loyal and pious member and his family a kind, affectionate husband and father. 3rd. That in token of our love and affection for his faithful labors, the Lodge members wear the badge of mourning for 30 days, and a copy of these resolutions be spread on our minutes. 4th. That a copy of the resolutions be sent to The Lineville Headlight for publication. and that the family of the deceased be furnished with a copy of the same. W. G. Preston, Cham.
