Mitchell, 82, of Lineville died Sunday at the Clay County Hospital. Services were to be today at 11 a.m. at Mount Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Zenas Windsor and the Rev. Carey Corley officiating. Burial was to be in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include his wife, Kate Mitchell; six daughters, Mrs. Hattie Palmer of Woodland. Mrs. Bessie O'Shay of Eureka, Calif., Mrs. Nell Davis of Gadsden, Mrs. Viola Chandler of Lanett, Miss Vera Mitchell of Lineville and Miss Carol Mitchell of Birmingham; five sons, Herbert L. Mitchell of York, Jacob Mitchell, Justice Mitchell, Primm Mitchell and Titus Mitchell, all of Munford; three brothers, Oscar Mitchell of Corpus Christi, Tex., Thomas Mitchell of Greensboro and Price Mitchell; four sisters, Mrs. Roxie Cummings of Wedowee, Mrs. Ida Hull of Roanoke, Mrs. Laura Beard of Gadsden and Mrs. Carrie Cummings of Jacksonville, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. Mr. Mitchell was a native of Randolph County and had lived in Clay and Randolph counties, all of his life. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Clay County. He was a farmer.
