Ashland Progress
Joseph Franklin Mitchell of Shiloh- Delta community was called to his Eternal 
Home May 5, 1943 in a hospital in Birmingham. He was born in Randolph County, 
March 19, 1876 and was married to Emma Tulula Watwood Dec. 8, 1898. To this union 
were born 9 children, 3 girls and 6 boys. One boy died in infancy. He was a kind 
and loving husband and father and was loved by all who knew him. He is survived 
by his wife, 3 daughters, 5 sons, 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. 3 
brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services were held at Shiloh-Delta church 
conducted by Elder M. Shad-dix and Rev. B. W. Mathews. Pallbearers were Elbert 
Saxon, Jodie Saxon, Elmus Saxon, Bremon Mitchell, Harwell Smith and Homer Rowe. A 
Daughter, Mrs. Faye Summerlin.
