Ashland Progress
Mr. Thomas M. Mitchell passed away at his home near Ashland, Wednesday night, 
Jan. 19, following a long period of declining health. Funeral services were held 
at Sardis Methodist church on Jan. 20 at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Doc Burdette and 
Rev. S. E. Maples officiating.
Interment was in the nearby cemetery. Blair in charge. The deceased is survived 
by his widow, Mrs. Cora Lee Hight Mitchell; two daughters, Mary Joe and Martha 
Inez Mitchell; three nephews, Charles Mitchell, Talladega; Walter Mitchell, 
Siluria and James Mitchell, Texas; one neice, Mary Habin, Talladega. Mr.
Mitchell was born near Talladega, April 30, 1883. He had lived in Clay County 23 
years.
