Ashland Progress
Miss Mary Mitchell, age 74, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Jess Knight, on 
January 4th, and was buried Sunday afternoon. Miss Knight was born and reared at 
the home near "Mitchell Branch" within the corporate limits of Ashland. She had 
been a member of the Baptist church at Ashland since 1879, soon after its 
organization. She was a quiet, consistent and unassuming woman, living a rather 
secluded life, not being able to attend church in her last years on account of 
her age and frailty. Miss Mitchell is survived by one sister, Mrs. Jess Knight, 
and one brother, Pink Mitchell, and a number of other relatives. Rev. F. J.
Ingram conducted the funeral service at the residence, after which interment was 
made in the Ashland cemetery, Blair directing.
