Ashland Progress
Andrew Jackson Moncus, age 76, died at his home in the Mt. Olive community 
shortly after 6 o'clock Wednesday evening, May 18. Funeral services were held at 
the Mt. Olive Baptist church Thursday afternoon conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. 
A. McWhorter. The deceased is survived by his wife. Mrs. Alice Wilson Moncus, 
and two sons and two daughters. They are Aubrey and Kermit Moncus and Mrs. C. W. 
Kenady of this community and Mrs. Randal McLain of Broughton. He is also 
survived by 21 grandchildren and C great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Onie 
Edwards of Motley, and one brother, Richard Moncus, of Little Rock, Arkansas. 
The pallbearers were Claud W. Kenady, Barney Wilkerson, Albert, Clarence and J. 
W. Moncus and Lea McLain. Interment was in Mt. Olive cemetery. Blair in charge.
