As he left the room, he kissed them all goodnight fondly and tenderly, more so than usual. Little did the loving wife dream that it was an eternal farewell, He pass ed through the dining room, where his shotgun lent against the wall on his way to his own bedroom. Nothing more was heard from him until his corpse was found with the feet spread out toward the house. In that brief time, one might imagine what took place. He evidently sat down in the lot facing the home wherein his loved ones were sleeping, and, in the despair of life placed the muzzle of his shot gun to. his forehead and pulled the trig ger. His limp, body fell back on the pound and the barrel of his gun in the victory of death stretched itself out on top of him. Thus ended a life. Life and love struggled in the lot that might, just before dawn, with drink and despair and the drink and despair won out.
