Ashland Progress
Alec Moore, 20, and Curtis Moore, 18, cousins, were drowned today while swimming 
in the Tallapoosa River near here. A third member of the party, Lester Dean, 
managed to swim ashore after all had stepped suddenly into deep water, The body 
of Alec Moore had not been recovered but the body of Curtis Moore was found a 
short time later.

Alex Moore, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Moore, was accidentally drowned in the 
Tallapoosa River near Cragford last Saturday morning at about 9 o'clock. His 
body was recovered Sunday morning. Funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at 
the Church of Christ conducted by Bro. Hubbard. His cousin, Curtis Moore, of 
Ironton, was also drowned at the same time.



Additional Comments:
Alex Moore is buried at Campbell Springs Cemetery, Clay County. Curtis Moore is 
buried at Bethlehem Talladega County AL.
