Ashland Progress
John Henry Morris, one of the old residents of the Gum Springs community, between 
Ashland and Mellow Valley, died at the home of his brother C. R. Morris, with 
whom he lived, Saturday morning, January 17th, after a week's illness. He was 78 
years of age and never married. His remains were laid to rest in Providence 
cemetery, the funeral taking place Sunday. Mr. Morris was a member of one of the 
old families of that community.
