D. Nichols, a farmer who resided a short distance from Bluff springs, was found dead in his field Monday, and his death is thought to have been due to heart trouble. From reports it seems that he had gone to his field to work at the usual hour in the morning and, upon his failure to return at noon, some of the children were sent to see what the trouble was and found him dead. The condition of the body indicated that he died early in the day. Justice G. W. Griffin, Dr. A. H. Owens and others went down and made an investigation and decided, as already stated, that the deceased had died suddenly of heart failure. There is said to have been no evidence of any kind of a struggle or foul play. Members of his family say he was subject to heart trouble. Mr. Nichols was 62 years of age and was an active, hardworking man. He was twice married and was the father of 14 children 6 by his first wife and 8 by his last. All the children are still living except two of the first set. He was a brother of M. V. Nichols of Ashland. The funeral service was held Tuesday and his remains were buried in Mt. Ararat cemetery near his home. Rev. F. J. Ingram conducted the service.
