Clay County Watchman
On Wednesday morning last the "White winged Messenger'' rested upon the threshold 
of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Nichols and plucked, from their midst little Johnnie, their 
older son. He was born in Milltown, Ala. Nov. 30th, 1877, and death claimed him 
Feb. 22nd, 1888. His journey of life was short, yet he lacked not for time in 
exhibiting his good nature which responded to every beck and call. He was a 
dutiful, good boy; obedient and self-sacrificing. His illness was very brief 
sickened and died during his father's absence, a shock which caused the cross 
more heavy for the heart...
