C. Nix, 44, died Tuesday at the Russell hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Sykesville Church, near Motley (Clay County). Burial directed by Radney was in the adjoining cemetery. Officiating ministers were Rev. Grady Birchfield, Rev. Henry Tapley and Elder B. B. Finley. Mr. Nix, a resident of Alexander City for the past 15 years or more, was born near Motley. For 10 years he was southeast Alabama district manager for The Birmingham Post. Then for about two years he operated a service station on Hillabee Road, coming to Callahan Motor Co. some four years ago as a car salesman. He left this position about a month ago and was preparing to go into business for himself. He had been confined to the hospital for a week prior to his death. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Pauline Nix, city; four sisters, Mrs. John Bryant, Childersburg; H.G. Tidwell, Mrs. W. W. Tidwell and Mrs. Sam Bice, all of Motley: a brother, J. T. Nix, Lake City, and a number of other relatives. Active pallbearers were nephews: Clarence and Reginald Bice, Fred and Clatis Morris, Talmadge Tidwell, Eldredge Nix, Harold and Paul Hodnett and Ralph Drake. Neighbors served as flower-bearers.
