F. Owens was born July 13th, 1839, he married Miss Emily Barnes Jan 2nd, 1867. There were born to this union 17 children, 14 of whom are living. He joined the Lineville Baptist church on Saturday before the 1st Sunday in September 1868 being baptized the following Sunday by Rev. John P. Shaffer. He remained a member of the church until October 1884. He then wet info the constitution of Good Hope church, Nov. 1884. July the 11th 1891 he was ordained a deacon of Good Hope church. He departed this life March 29th, 1911, aged 71 years 8mos and 16 days. Brother Owens served in the war between the states about three years. As a neighbor he was very helpful to all who needed his services in any way. To the sick there was none like him. His neighbors any of him that no man ever lived in their community who visited so many sick people. A true and faithful companion, a devoted husband, he was a strong Christian in the faith, and loved his church and pastor. In his death his community has lost a great helper: in his home and church a place has been made vacant which can never be filled. During his lingering illness he was cared for very tenderly by his wife, his children and many friends. During his sickness that same bright spirit that had ever characterized his life was very prominent. He leaves a wife and fourteen children, a number of relatives and a host of friends to mourn his death. We realize his death is our loss and Heaven's grain. His remains were interred at Concord cemetery March 30th. The services were conducted by the writer an Rev. E. E. Emerson. His pastor, B. W.
