Roberts passed away Tuesday morning Dec. 7th at the home of his son, Mr. Ira L. Roberts, Pyriton Route One. Uncle Watt, as he was known to his many friends and relatives, had reached the ripe old age of 87 years, Nov. 21st. He suffered a stroke of paralysis on August 22nd but was only confined to his bed about 4 weeks. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Hallman Roberts, 6 daughters: Mrs. J.H. Hamil, Langdale, Mrs. B.R. Hughes Rockmart, Ga., Mrs. R.M. Creed, Ashland, Mrs. J.A. George, Wadley, Mrs. C.M. Whatley, Fairfax, Mrs. Kermit Green, Alex City; 5 sons: Ira L. Roberts, Pyriton, Odis Roberts, Alex City, Edward Roberts Jacksonville, Fla., One brother and 2 sisters Mr. J.A. Roberts, Bessemer, Mrs. M.L. Williamson, Collinsville, Mrs. G.A. Deberry, Lagrange, Ga., 32 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Funeral services were held at Bowden Grove Baptist church, of which he was a member, Thursday morning Dec. 9th, Rev. J.L. Ingram conducted the services. A nice talk was made by Mr. George Heath. Burial was in the family cememtery. Grandsons were Pallbearers with Blair directing. Additional Comments: Burial was at Hassell Gap Cemetery which is also known as the Caldwell/Roberts Cemetery. W.
