Ashland Progess
Daniel Elijah Padgett, 84, Cragford died Friday May 11, at Lineville Hospital. 
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Cragford Baptist Church 
by Rev. J. T. Nichols, Dr. J. W. Dean and Rev. Earl Trent of Roanoke. Interment 
was in the church cemetery with the Masons conducting the graveside services. 
Blair directing. Members of the Masonic Lodge served as pallbearers They were 
Lavelle Grey, Willis Padgett, Herman Harry, Curtis Gray, Ezra Walker and Hugh 
Rice. Survivors include the widow, four daughters, two sons, and one 
stepdaughter. Other survivors are twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-three great 
grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.
