Roanoke Leader
Nov. 4. A double funeral at Cragford Saturday was that of Mrs. Victoria Runyan 
and Mr. Hamp Padgett. They were second cousins. Mr. Padgett died here at his home 
Friday, after an illness of six weeks. He was 35 years old and joined the church 
when quite young and was a faithful member. In 1921 he was married to Miss Ivera 
Cole. Surviving him are his wife, two sons, Oscar and Jack, father, mother, one 
sister, Mrs. Driskill Yarbrough, of Mellow Valley, one brother, Mr. A. V. 
Padgett, of Lineville, a host of relatives and friends. The joint funeral service 
was conducted by Rev. Homer Roberts, cousins of both the deceased, Rev. L. M. 
Harris, of Lineville, and Rev. C. B Martin, pastor of the Baptist church. 
Interment was made in the Cragford cemetery.
