He was born July 4, 1884, age 25 years,12 month and 5 days, joined the Baptist church at Mt. Moriah August 1907. A great man was he great because Christ was gracious to him in his salvation. The evidence he gave at his conversion and his godly walk and conversation since, though but the short time of two years, has been abundant. He was laid to rest on Monday, the 20th day of Sept 1909, in Mt Moriah cemetery by a host of friends and a long train of connection, all of whom lingered long and wept as they stood over him for the last view God alone can heal our broken hearts...... He was married to Miss Lizzie Sprayberry August 31st, 1908. Their happy union was short but devoted...... J.D.
