Anniston Star
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p m. for John Emerson Pate, 90, of 
Delta. Mr. Pate died Saturday at the clay County Hospital. Services will be from 
Union Church in Clay County, with the Rev. Ervin Strickland officiating. Burial 
will be in the church cemetery Mr. Pate is survived by three daughters, Mrs. 
Delma Burt of Oxford and Mrs. Elzora Varnes and Mrs. Ella Morrison, both of 
Anniston; three sons, H. L. Pate, of Anniston, J. L. Pate of Delta and Owen Pate 
of Ashland; two brothers, four sisters, 40 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren 
and four great-great grandchildren. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
