Ashland Progress
The Death Angel visited the home of Mrs. Mary Patterson near Bluff Spring on May 
6 and called her to rest. She has been unable to do anything for several years, 
but on May 2nd she was taken ill. She bore her pain with patience. She was 82 
years of age, the mother of 7 children, 5 boys and 2 girls, 39 grandchildren and 
12 great-grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, always gentle 
and kind. She was a believer in God, and she will be missed by the family and 
community. Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Ararat cemetery Saturday 
morning, Rev. Grady Birchfield officiating. She is survived by her children and 
grandchildren. Jesse, Thurman, Aubrey, Thomas, Junior and Pete Patterson, 
grandsons, were active pallbearers. Interment was in Mt. Ararat cemetery with 
Blair directing
