Clay County Advance
Died in the old family residence in Clay County, (now occupied by her son-in-law 
and family) Mrs. Jane Patterson aged ninety-six years, six months and seven days. 
Out of her family of six children, three Sons and three daughters only two 
daughters survive her Mrs. Annie McDiarmid. Living in the old home, and Mrs. Mary 
Torrey at Union Church, Miss. Her sons were all slain in defense of their country 
during the Confederate war. Oh how we miss the presence of one we loved so dearly 
on account of our long and intimate association with her. May we all imitate her 
life and character in the Lord, where she loved so much to walk until called to 
join the redeemed where parting will be no more.
