Ashland Progress
Last rites for James Walter Patterson, 69, who died at his home in Bluff Spring 
community, Friday were held Sunday from Bethel Church with the Rev. Grady 
Birchfield and by Rev's. Ray, Ingram, Sprayberry and Graylun officiating. Burial 
was in the church cemetery. Surviving are the widow Mr. Beatrice Patterson; six 
sons, Dewey, Bruce, Russell, Grady, Woodfin and Aubrey; three daughters Mrs. 
Arthur Vickers, Mrs. Alvin Blevins and Miss Gwendolyn Patterson; two sisters, 
Mrs. Ophelia Mann, Mrs. Nora Moody. Two sons preceded him in death He had 23 
grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were his six sons, with 
Blair in charge.
