Talladega Home
Funeral services for John H. Pettus were held at Union church, in Clay County 
Thursday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock. Mr. Pettus died at his son Curtis home in 
Alexander City, Tuesday, April 7. Mr. Pettus was 66 years of age. He had been in 
failing health for some time. He is survived by six sons Elbert and Idus of 
Talladega, Marvin, Mark and Hubert, of Oxford, and Curtis of Alexander City; and 
five daughters Mrs. J. A. Tyson, of Anniston: Mrs. G. A. Strickland, Mrs. J B. 
Crayton, Miss Nettie Pettus, of Oxford; Mrs. D. D. Gardner of Alexander City, one 
sister Mrs. Mary Freeman, of Talladega one brother Newton Pettus, of Lineville, 
and a number of grandchildren.
